One of the best things about fleece fabric is that you don't need to know how to sew, and you don't need to purchase a sewing machine in order to start making beautiful gifts for all your loved ones.
The goal of this article is to describe the general concept of a 'fleece no-sew project'
If you learn the art of designing amazing no-sew fleece blankets and no-sew fleece pillows, you have the knowledge to let your creativity run wild. From stuffed animals, to pet beds, these methods can be used for a wide variety of projects. These fun projects are unbelievably simple to learn and implement, and they provide enjoyable activities for whole families, sports teams, and youth groups to take part in together.
How to Make a No Sew Fleece Blanket
Difficulty Level: easy
Supplies:
* 3-4 yards of fleece (depending upon the size of blanket you want)
* Scissors, preferably fabric but standard will work
* Ruler
1. Cut your fleece into two equal sections.
2. Lay one piece on a roomy flat surface. Make sure the fleece is completely flat. Next, spread the other piece of fleece directly on top of the first piece. The two pieces should match up perfectly. Trim the edges if necessary to be sure the pieces line up perfectly.
3. Use your ruler to measure 5 inches in from a corner. Cut a 5-by-5 inch square out so you have a missing square corner in your fabric. Repeat this on all four corners.
4. Take your ruler and begin making cuts that are 1 A-inches wide x 4 A-inches long. Continue cutting the edges into 1 1/2-inch thick segments entirely around the perimeter of the fabric.
5. Grab one of your 1 1/2-inch segments. There should be two pieces - a top layer and a bottom layer. Tie them together and double-knot them so that they're very tight and so the ends hang loose. Be sure to tie every segment the same way so your blanket looks symmetrical.
Now your magnificent no-sew, tie blanket is complete!
No Sew Fleece Pillow
Difficulty Level: easy
Supplies:
* 1-2 yards of fleece (depending upon the size of pillow you want)
* Scissors, preferably fabric but standard will work
* Ruler
* Chalk (as needed, to draw straight lines before cutting fringe)
1. Cut 2 identical squares (or whatever shape you want the pillow) from your fleece. To allow for a 4-inch fringe, be sure to cut the shapes 8 inches larger than you want your pillow to be. So if your shapes are 30 inches by 38 inches your pillow will be 22 by 30 when finished.
2. On 1 fleece shape, use a ruler to draw a faint square 4 inches in from the edge of the fabric. Continue to draw fringe lines that are 1 inch wide and 4 inches long all around the perimeter of your fabric.
3. Stack the fleece shapes with your chalk lines on top. Follow your reference lines and cut the fringe, penetrating both layers of fleece.
4. Now go around and tie all of the fringes with a double knot, making sure not to close the pillow completely.
5. Stuff the pillow with batting. Tie the remaining fringes. Brush off any chalk that still shows.
