Choose the Right Kitchen Equipment to Make Cleaning

by:Rhino     2020-05-30
Cleaning the kitchen is one of those jobs that no-one likes doing, but everyone knows is essential. With anything from mild food poisoning to a serious case of E. coli among the possible consequences of not ensuring your kitchen appliances and worktops are kept in a hygienic condition, it is well worth making a little effort. There is no way to avoid hot soapy water, disinfectant and scrubbing entirely - unless you can afford to hire a cleaner - but choosing the right kind of equipment can help to cut down the amount of time you have to spend keeping your kitchen in a hygienic condition. Among the places bacteria can thrive are on the hob and in the oven, with food spills and grease helping to make it an attractive environment for them. Wiping down the hob after use and ensuring the oven is cleaned regularly is important, but how much effort you have to put into this will depend on which appliances for the kitchen you have selected. Ceramic and stainless steel hobs tend to be much easier to keep clean than other types. Use the correct sort of product on them (the hob's manufacturer should provide details) and the process of cleaning after use should amount to little more than a quick wipe down. It is also well worth investing in a metal or glass splash back for behind the hob, as they are much simpler to clean than tiles and paint or wallpaper covered surfaces. Self-cleaning ovens are another good choice if you wish to cut down on the amount of time you spend keeping your kitchen in a hygienic condition. While buying one won't mean you never have to clean your oven, it will mean the unpleasant and time-consuming job becomes relatively rare. Another way that bacteria can spread quickly in the kitchen is when you dispose of rubbish. There are always germs in your bin and on its lid, so every time you touch the surface they transfer onto your hands and anything you subsequently come into contact with before washing. There are a range of practical kitchen homeware products that can help you to avoid this problem. If you plan to have a free-standing bin, make sure you choose one that has a foot pedal-operated lid, as that will cut down on the number of times you have to touch it. If you have a small kitchen or simply want to avoid having a bin on display, there are a number of bins designed to fit inside cupboard doors available. The best of these have pop-up lids that open when the cupboard door does, meaning you will not have to touch it to put rubbish in. Choosing the right type of bin can also help to reduce the amount of time you spend sorting waste for recycling. Select one with compartments and you can separate your rubbish as you go along. It is also a good idea to look into whether it is possible to fit a waste disposal unit to your kitchen sink. This can usually be done as a DIY job and will enable you to deal with food waste immediately, ensuring it is not left lying around to smell as it rots and cutting the chance of problems caused by vermin around your dustbins.
